At the heart of most projects of fire protection of buildings and structures are actuators, the main element of which are electric motors. In this article we will talk about monitoring the serviceability of reversible electric actuators of standard fire-fighting system gate valves and other devices, the basis of which is a powerful three-phase 220/380 V electric motor. The problem is that at the design stage, insufficient attention is paid to the function of monitoring the serviceability of the lines of communication with the motor, the serviceability of the starter coils, as well as the motor itself and limit switches. As a consequence, the reliability of the fire protection system decreases. One of the reasons for this is the inaccessibility of such a possibility due to the lack of ready-made solutions. To solve this problem Gefest Group has developed a device BKP380/P.
Block of control and start-up BKP380/P is designed to control the serviceability of communication lines and remote state of three-phase electric motor 220/380 V, which direction of rotation is set by switching network phases. Motor windings can be connected in delta or star connection without neutral wire. BKP380/P does not control the motor independently. It receives the command to start the motor from switching contacts of a third-party PPU.
The device is made in a compact plastic case with degree of protection IP30, the construction features of which make it easy to mount both on the DIN-rail 35 mm, and on other surfaces with screws. It is recommended to mount in an electrical cabinet on a DIN rail. The device is an additional component (works as part of the FPU "Gefest" or other FPU), it can be easily connected to the existing fire protection systems. Installation should be carried out in accordance with the project documentation.
BKP380/P has built-in indication, possibility of external indication connection, as well as information outputs. The device monitors the presence of three phases, the state of each of them is displayed in green on the indicators L1, L2, L3. When installed in the cabinet the device allows to place on the cabinet door the lamps of indication (220V) of controlled device states ("Open", "Closed", "Failure", "Automatic"), and also control elements, such as mode switch (manual/automatic), buttons of manual switching of drive in position "Open"/"Closed", buttons "Stop" and "Reset". Information outputs are a dry contact to transmit the states to the fire control panel. In the standby mode the contacts of the information outputs for the states "Open" and "Failure" are closed, the contacts for the states "Closed" and "Start" are open.
